Artist
zoë roxburgh is a Mulubinba/Newcastle born and based neurodivergent artist who is always looking/always seeing .
Working across textiles, painting, sculpture, and experimental digital practice, Her making is driven by sensory preferences to surface, often with new or different materials and techniques each time.
Her work investigates light, structure, scale and negative space through tactile, layered surfaces often in the form of "continuous line" drawings using materials including human hair, steel, linen thread, cardboard, resin and paint.
Drawing on ancient rhythmic and meditative human processes of weaving, wrapping, stitching, cutting, bending, and dripping, Zoë creates works that carry a textile sensibility across mediums.
Gesture and repetition operate as both inquiry and regulation, reflecting embodied connections to neurodivergence while retaining a sense of curiosity and play through startling choice of scale, layering and technical process.
